A Corner of Castelmola

Of Hungarian origin, François Farago was a painter known for his en plein air approach and a body of work marked by a refined and expressive watercolor technique. He began his artistic activity in Venice, working in the open air of Piazza San Marco, before relocating to Taormina, where he was active from the mid-1960s to the early 1970s.

Farago’s works are distinguished by their immediacy, freshness of execution, and luminous use of color. Frequently, his paintings were acquired directly from the easel, often before completion—testimony to the immediacy of their appeal and the strong connection they evoked in viewers.
